Volterra

Volterra is situated on a hill between the valleys of Cecina and Dell'Era and dominates the singular spectacle of the gullies, huge and picturesque ravines caused by erosion.It is a very old town of Etruscan origin, the first archaeological finds of the necropolis dating back to the X, IX century. Volterra sorge su una verde collina  tra le valli del Cecina e dell' Era e domina il singolare spettacolo dei calanchi, enormi e pittoresche voragini causate dall'erosione.

E' una città antichissima, di origini etrusche; i primi reperti archeologici rinvenuti nelle necropoli risalgono al X, IX sec. a. C. . Dalla metà del VII sec. a .C. partecipa ad una viva attivtà commercile etrusca,si abbellisce ed entra a far parte della confederazione commerile delle maggiori città etrusche. Successivamente i Romani la occuparono, dandole  l'attuale nome. Ma è nel Medioevo che inizia la vera fioritura della città.

Da un punto di vista turistico, si sottolinea che sono tutt'ora visibili le mura etrusche, ben conservate, che circondano il centro storico. Il cuore pulsante della città  medievale è Piazza dei Priori, una delle più scenografiche piazze italiane: qui si svolgevano le attività dell'antico Comune, del cui passato splendore si fregiano gli imponenti ed antichi edifici, tutti in pietra grigia, che si affacciano sulla piazza, come il Palazzo dei Priori, sulla cui facciata sono ancora ben visibili e riconoscibili stemmi di marmo e terracotta smaltata.
Da non perdere sono la visita del Duomo, costruzione romanica del XII secolo, con il suo interno a tre navate, in cui è presente anche una Deposizione in legno scolpito e dipinto ed un pergamo a cui hanno lavorato gli allievi di Guglielmo Pisano e la Pinacoteca, con la Deposizione del Rosso Fiorentino e la Madonna di Luca Signorelli.

E' una città ricca di storia, di arte, dove è possibile trovare tracce di etruschi, romani, del Medievo e del Rinascimento. Quello che attrae maggiormente in Volterra, è la sua atmosfera medievale che si respira per il centro, costituito da viuzze, stradine tortuose, in cui si possono scorgere negozietti perfettamente integrati.
Nel centro sono presenti anche tanti negozic he vendono preziosi manufatti in alabastro, prodotto tipico della città, che viene estratto proprio nelle sue vicinanze.

Loro Ciuffenna

Loro Ciuffenna è un caratteristico borgo medievale situato in provincia di Arezzo, sulla Cassia Vetus e si hanno notizie della sua esistenza già a partire dal II sec. a.C. In epoca medievale passò ai Conti Guidi di Poppi che ne mantennero il controllo fino al XIII secolo, epoca in cui fu anche fortificato.
Varie sono le vicissitudini storiche legate a Loro, tra cui una ribellione contro Napoleone.

Non appena si entra a Loro, si viene accolti dallo scroscio del fiume Ciuffenna, talvolta anche molto fragoroso, che crea piccoli dislivelli e cascate. Dal ponte principale,che sovrasta il fiume infatti, è possibile ancora vedere il vecchio mulino, che utilizzava proprio la forza del fiume per macinare. Se si scende verso il fiume, si trovano un labirinto di viuzze e stradine acciottolate, tutte fiancheggiate da case in pietra e con balconi adorni di fiori colorati e profumati.

Loro si trova alle pendici del Pratomagno, contornata da campi di olivi ed una campagna incantevole e verdeggiante ed offre un suggestivo panorama sul Valdarno. Proprio per la sua posizione previlegiata, da Loro si possono facilmente raggiungere molte località montane, tre cui Gorgiti, Chiassaia ( dove si può gustare una gustosissima e croccante schicciata), Poggio di Loro, Montelori, La Trappola, fino a poter raggiungere con una bella e panoramica passeggiata la croce sul monte Pratomagno.

INGREDIENTS ( Serves 4 )
• 300g chickpeas
• 400g peeled shrimp
• 1 clove of garlic
• A handful of parsley
• Juice of one lemon


PREPARATION:
Chop garlic and parsley and put them to fry in a pan. Then add shrimp and cook for 5 minutes. Cool down the shrimp. Add chickpeas and juice of the lemon and mix. Refrigerate for several hours.

Abbey of Monte Oliveto

One of the most beautiful countryside of Siena in the area close to Buonconvento is undoubtedly the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore. It is located in the municipality of Asciano, on a hill covered with cypress trees, in a lovely location, in the middle of the desert Accona, which are the background Crete with steep ravines. In the cloister there are 35 frescoes depicting the life of St. Benedict, rich in detail, animals and enemies of the Holy devils.

Uno dei luoghi più suggestivi della campagna senese nella zona vicina a Buonconvento è  senza dubbio l'Abbazia di Monte Oliveto Maggiore.  E' situata nel comune di Asciano, su un' altura coperta da cipressi, in una posizione incantevole, nel mezzo del deserto di Accona, a cui fanno sfondo le Crete con i ripidi calanchi . L'abbazia sorge  a circa 30 km da Siena. Dalla strada provinciale, la Cassia, bisogna inerpicarsi per circa 8 km per una strada stretta e fatta di tornanti per raggiungere il parcheggio antistante l'Abbazia. Ci si spinge all'interno percorrendo un lungo viale all'interno di un rigoglioso parco di alberi ad alto fusto.

L'Abbazia benedettina è immersa nella pace più assoluta e dal primo all'ultimo momento si può respirare aria di tranquillità e pace. Racchiude, dentro di sè, tutto ciò che si può cercare quando si pensa  ad un'abbazia: un luogo appartato, in cui si trovano arte, silenzio e accoglienza.

Appena entrati nell'Abbazia si può ammirare il chiostro con tutti i suoi affreschi, recentemente restaurati, dipinti dal Signorelli e da Antonio Bazzi, detto il Sodoma. Secondo Vasari, la sua personalità era molto bizzarra e spregiudicata, amava gli scherzi e circondarsi da dei più svariati animali e da qui il significativo soprannome. Un segno della sua originalità si ha proprio in questi affreschi; in un dipinto vengono rappresentati i frati nel refettorio e se ne nota uno che, con fare indifferente, ruba la pagnotta di un confratello.

Nel chiostro ci sono 35 affreschi che raccontano la vita di San Benedetto, molto ricchi di dettagli, di animali e dei nemici del Santo: i diavoli.

si continua la visita con il refettorio, la chiesa e la biblioteca, che è costruita in stile rinascimentale con una stupenda porta lignea intagliata.

Il Palio del Cerro

on the first Saturday of September: The Palio is held in the Cerro Cerreto Guidi, near Florence. The festivities continue the next day.

 Since the fourteenth century the inhabitants of Cerreto have always had great devotion to Santa Liberata, so in 1588 he became the patron of the first of September. During this occasion, besides the religious procession was set up the "prize": a series of simple castle games, marked on the force, on skill, on the competition, reflexes and intelligence.

Every day, to better organize the games, the town was divided into four "quarters", which was given the name of the ancient castle of the four doors: Porta Fiorentina, to the palace gate, Porta Santa Maria to Pozzuolo, Port Caracosta .
The games, which have been handed down and that will continue to do are: Rides on troppoli (pieces of wood joists 30 cm long) and tubs (typical container slats, used in viticulture), the tug of war, the launch of the rings and the crossbow manesca. They are rustic and popular games of origin, demonstrating the simple character of the inhabitants of Cerreto.
Of the five games, the race of the crossbow is one that requires most preparation and careful, because this ancient instrument is dependent on its perfection by the accuracy with which the weapon is set up.
 At the end of games, the winning district celebrates with cheerful and boisterous toasts.



Il primo sabato di settembre: Il Palio del Cerro si svolge a Cerreto Guidi, in provincia di Firenze. I festeggiamenti contnuano anche il giorno successivo.

Fin dal XIV secolo gli abitanti di Cerreto hanno sempre avuto molta devozione per Santa Liberata, così nel 1588 fu assunta a compatrona e le fu dedicata una festa i primi di settembre. Durante questa occasione oltre alla processione dei religiosi fu istituito il "palio": una seie di giochi castellani semplici, improntati sulla forza, sull'abilità, sulla competizione, sui riflessi e sull'intelligenza.
Oggi giorno, per organizzare al meglio i giochi, la cittadina è stata divisa in quattro "contrade", alle quali è stato dato il nome delle antiche quattro porte del castello: Porta Fiorentina, Porta al Palagio, Porta Santa Maria al Pozzuolo, Porta Caracosta.

I giochi, che sono stati tramandati e che si continuano a fare, sono: le corse sui troppoli (pezzi di travicello di legno lunghi 30 centimetri) e nelle bigonce (tipici recipienti a doghe, usati in viticoltura), il tiro alla fune, il lancio degli anelli e il tiro con la balestra manesca. Sono giochi di origine agreste e popolare, che dimostrano il semplice carattere dei cerretesi.
Dei cinque giochi, la gara della balestra è quella che richede una preparazioen più lunga ed accurata, perchè questo antico strumento fa dipendere lasua perfezione dalla precisione con la quale viene allestita l'arma.

Al termine dei giochi, nella contrada vincente si fa festa con allegri e chiassosi brindisi.

• 300g fresh beans (I prefer toscanelli)
• 2 cloves of garlic
• 200g tomato sauce
• A spring of sage
• Extra virgin oil
• Salt


PREPARATION:
Put the oil in a saucepan and sauté the garlic. After two o tree minutes add tomato sauce and let it cook until a fairly and thick sauce. Add beans and let it cook for about two hours. Sometimes add some warm water, because the sauce should not be too dry. When they are ready, serve still hot.

Il Duomo di Siena

From 6 April to 27 October will see the floor of the cathedral.

Nel XIV secolo Siena divenne uno dei maggiori centri di produzione e diffusione dello stile gotico in Italia, la cui testimonianza più rappresentativa è il Duomo, dalla facciata tricuspidata in marmo bianco, che è luminosa, solare e ricca di particolari. Nel suo interno, a croce latina e diviso da pilastri a fasce bianche e nere, si possono ammirare le opere dei più grandi artisti senesi.

L'elemento più particolare della Cattedrale é il pavimento, un esempio unico nel suo genere. Rimane coperto per gran parte dell'anno da assi di legno  per proteggerlo dal capestio ei visitatori.

L'impresa decorativa interessa 1.300 metri quadri di superficie e durò dal XIV al XVIII secolo: se inizialmente il lavoro era basato sulla semplicità, col passare del tempo si affinò fino a realizzare scene che sembrano vere e proprie opere pittoriche; si trovano scene della mitologia greco-romana, del Vecchio e Nuovo Testamento. Le 56 scene sono state realizzate dai numerosi artisti che si sono succeduti: tra questi il Pinturicchio, Domenico di Bartolo, Francesco di Giorgio Martini e Domenico Beccafumi.

• 125 g mozzarella
• A handful of green olives
• 200g tomatoes
• 150g zucchini

PREPARATION:

San Gimignano

San Gimignano rises on a hill overlooking the Val d'Elsa, in the province of Siena.
A legend is linked to the history of the town's name. It is said that a bishop of Modena, Bishop Gimignano, during one of his travels, is dead in the land. During his funeral, a boy was struck by the large ring that shone on his finger of the deceased; pretended to kiss the corpse and tried to remove the ring, with the result that, in addition to the ring, he found himself in the finger of manoanche bishop. San Gimignano sorge su una collina che domina la Val D'Elsa, nella provincia di Siena.

Una leggenda è legata alla storia del nome della cittadina. Si racconta che un vescovo di Modena,  il vescovo Gimignano, durante uno dei suoi viaggi, è defunto in quella terra. In occasione della sua cerimonia funebre, un ragazzo rimase colpito dal grosso anello che brillava al dito del defunto; finse di baciare la salma e tentò di sfilare l'anello, con il risultato che, oltre all'anello, si trovò in manoanche il dito del vescovo. Terrorizzato fuggì ed arrivò all'interno di una cappellina, dove chiese aiuto e confessò il furto, riconsegnando la refurtiva ad un sacerdote. da quel giorno la chiesetta prese il nome del vescovo ed intorno ad essa si sviluppò la straordinaria e meravigliosa cittadina.

San Gimignano è circondata da mura del 1200 e conserva 15 delle 72 torri originarie, tanto da avere l'appellativo di "Manhattan" del Medio Evo.
Il centro è caratterizzato da due piazze comunicanti, Piazza della Cisterna e Piazza del Duomo, centro monumentale della città. La sua facciata è semplice, ma la scalinata per accedervi e tutta la piazza circostante donano un'atmosfera speciale. All'interno si rimane estasiati dalla bellezza e particolarità degli affreschi, che raccontano  molti episodi  biblici.
San Gimignano è tuttora una città in cui si respira un'atmosfera medievale e riecheggiano vivaci brusii di altri tempi, con i suoi profumi e sapori di prodotti tipici, come la Vernaccia o lo zafferano.
Camminando tra  le piccole strade tortuose e vicoli stretti, ci si aspetta proprio di versi comparire davanti da un momento all'altro un cavaliere, un soldato o una dama con le sue damigelle.

Chi ama il Medioevo non si può perdere la visita al museo San Gimignano 1300 and Tresure Hunt, in cui è possibile ammirare una ricostruzione in miniatura della città nel 1300: impressionante per laqualità e quantità dei dettagli; sembra proprio di essere tra le vie del tempo. Ideale anche per i bambini più piccoli.

Parco preistorico a Peccioli

Il parco Preistorico sitrova a Peccioli, in provincia di Pisa, è aperto tutti i giorni dell'anno, dalle ore 9.00 fino al tramonto.
Il parco è un luogo spettacolare, nellacampagna nei pressi di Pontedera, adatto per emozionare i bambini dai 5 anni, evocando il lontanissimo ed amatissimo mondo della Preistoria.

All'interno ci sono venti riproduzione in resina a grandezza naturale dei più importanti animali preisotrici: il Mammuth, il Velociraptor, il Tirranosauro. Si trova anche il Brachiosauro del Giurassico che è la più grande ricostruzione attualmente esistente in Europa.
Il Parco Preistorico ha un'ampia area attrezzata gratuita per la sosta dei camper.
Tra le strutture del parco ci sono dei giochi per bambini e dei tavoli da pic-nic ed è possibile sostare in camper o roulotte in un'ampia zona verde con panorama toscano.

I Parchi acquatici Acquavillage si trovano uno  a Follonica e l'altro a Cecina, in provincia di Grosseto.
Sono aperti da giugno a settembre con orario dalle 10.00 alle 18.00.

Per chi è appassionato di giochi acquatici, per chi ama i tuffi, gli schizzi e gli spruzzi, questi parchi sono l'ideale!

Sono parchi aquatici ideali per famiglie, perchè ci sono attrazioni per tutti i gusti e per tutte le età, come il terribile Kamikaze, con un salto finale nel vuoto, l'Anaconda,  che avvolge i bagnanti con le sue spire lunghe 130 metri, il Twistwer, con due tunnel intrecciati nel buio più completo per una scivolata adrenalinica ed un tuffo improvviso tra acqua e luce. Non mancano piscine per i bambini,con giochi, cascate acquatiche, onde artificiali, scivoli ed una simpatica animazione sempre disponibile. Forse manca una piscina per i piccolissimi.

Come raggiungere l’outlet: si trova proprio vicino all’uscita A1 Barberino. Per chi non dispone di un proprio mezzo,  l’outlet mette a disposizione una navetta che parte e ritorna a Firenze. Il punto di ritrovo è davanti al negozio  BATA (presso la stazione SMN) e la prima corsa è alle 10.00. costo del biglietto 15 Euro, il biglietto si può acquistare sulla navetta.

How to reach the outlet: right near the exit Barberino A1. For those who do not have their own means, the outlet offers a shuttle that leaves and returns to Florence. The meeting point is in front of the store BATA (at the station SMN) and the first bus is at 10.00. Tickets cost 15 Euros, you can buy the ticket on the bus.

Valdichiana Outlet Village  si trova vicino all’uscita A1 Valdichiana, nei pressi di Arezzo. Si possono trovare più di 140 negozi di grandi  e prestigiose firme in un contesto suggestivo e rilassante; tra le più importanti fime si possono trovare Guess, Calvin Klein, Levi's Dockers, Fornarina, Puma, Sisley e Benetton e molte altre. Ci sono negozi di articoli per la casa come Bormioli e Richard Ginori, Bialetti e Bassetti e negozi di calzature, cosmetici, intimo e gioiellerie.

Come raggiungere l’Outlet: L’outlet è facilmente raggiungibile in macchina, essendo situato in prossimità dell'uscita Valdichiana dell'autostrada A1. Dopo aver preso l’uscita “Valdichiana”, basta seguire le indicazioni per "Outlet Valdichiana”. Puoi raggiungere l’outlet anche con il treno da Firenze. L’autobus parte da un lato della stazione di Arezzo e si ferma proprio difronte al Valdichiana Village.

Valdichiana Outlet Village is located just off A1 exit Valdichiana, near Arezzo. How to reach the outlet: The outlet mall is easily accessible by car, being located next to the A1 motorway at Valdichiana. After taking the exit "Valdichiana", just follow the signs for "Outlet Valdichiana". You can reach the outlet with the train from Florence. The bus leaves from one side of the station stops right in front of Arezzo and the Valdichiana Village

The Mall Outlet

Immerso nella campagna toscana , a è  certamente tra gli outlet più famosi della Toscana, per il suo stile elegante e raffinato. Si trova a pochi chilometri dall'uscita dell'autostrada A1 Incisa-Reggello 
Questo outlet è specializzato nelle grandi firme di lusso e  dell'alta moda, che lo hanno reso famoso.  Si può passeggiare tra negozi dedicati all’abbigliamento e agli accessori donna, uomo e bambino, oltre che alle fragranze, alle calzature e agli articoli per la casa.
 Qui si trovano i negozi di Gucci, Ferragamo, Cavalli, Armani, Valentino e Tod's tra i designer italiani. Per le grandi marche straniere abbiamo invece Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Stella McCartney e Yves Saint Laurent. 
Poiché sono tutti famosi designer dell'alta moda anche se i prezzi sono outlet, rimangono spesso alti e poco accessibili però per chi vuole comprarsi un articolo griffato è proprio il posto ideale. I visitatori possono poi rilassarsi sul terrazzo del Caffè da dove si può ammirare la splendida e idilliaca campagna.


Come raggiungere l’outlet:   si trova a circa 30 km da Firenze, vicino all’uscita A1 Incisa- Reggello e proseguire sulla destra in direzione Pontassieve fino a raggiungere Leccio. The Mall si trova sulla sinistra appena superato il centro di Leccio. 
Da Firenze, ci sono autobus BUSITALIA/SITA tutti i giorni (dalla stazione SMN di Firenze, Via Santa Caterina da Siena, 17) che vanno diretti al The Mall (biglietto costo 5 euro a persona corsa semplice) Un servizio giornaliero collega il centro di Firenze a The Mall e viceversa.
